The Aspis Confederacy up close Empty The Aspis Confederacy up close

Officially formed in 1966, The Aspis Confederacy is made up of 6 member states thus far.
Of these, 5 can trace their origins back to the same colonial overlord, a fact that has made their union significantly easier as they largely use the same language with minor variations.
The 6th state, Soh Jin, does not share this origin however.
Made up of the regions once tribal natives, Soh Jin's first contact was through the trader nomad fleets which would eventually form Gyges.
This event, known as "The first hail" took place during the high medieval era and it would remain the only real contact between the two nations, if not continents, for decades to come.
Eventually, the colonial rush began and 3 important colonies were formed.
Deliani, a militarized state which persevered to modern times.
Ixmucane, a mostly agricultural trader state made up of most of the nomad population along with a large number of mainland immigrants, later splitting into Savara and Gyges as the two people failed to compromise.
And the Umbra farlands, considered to be the "proper" colony and made to be an extension of the colonial empire. They would later split into the oligarchic Umbra Empirium and the monarchic city state of Umbra Regium.

These colonies held great promise, however the mainland empire would not see the fruits of it's labour.
Little less than a century later, a combination of horrid leadership, accumulated diplomatic mistakes and economic decay saw the original empire fall and be wiped from the map by opposing forces, leaving the colonies to fend for themselves in a time of need.
Soh Jin was affected the least, having never been a colony in the first place, the collapse meant an increase in trade due to limited alternatives.
The Umbra Farlands were visited by the emperor and his surviving forces, who intended to simply take over command from here. The local Nobility however, had other ideas, denying the royal family's leadership and accusing them of causing this very problem. A claim which rang more true than the emperor was able to handle. As such, a single city was granted to the royal family, it's Nobility the only to be sympathetic, and the city state of Umbra Regium was formed. The rest, United into the oligarchic Umbra Empirium, which today finds itself in a three way civil war.
Ixmucane had an economic collapse, it's agricultural production having suddenly lost it's main and greatest customer. The nomad population decided to peacefully split from the rest of the nation, forming the Gyges trading company while the rest of the nation was reformed into Savara.
Lastly, Deliani declared complete independence and pressured Savara into a one sided "alliance", using it's significant military to enforce it's own law and "offer protection in exchange for supplies", shorthand for "give us stuff or we'll shoot you and take it ourselves."
Throughout the years, stability returned and each state grew into it's own.
Deliani became a citizen Service police state, heavily guarded against internal corruption to avoid past mistakes yet haunted by it's past diplomacy.
Soh Jin became loved by all states as they proved to be an invaluable ally and reliable partner. It's cultural differences long since overcome, mostly out of necessity, a fact which also found them guarded by every other state.
Savara suffered greatly under the rulership of almost warlord-like landlords who overexerted their workers like animals and payed the price in the form of a communist revolution.
Gyges became more stable and settled, slowly turning into a borderline dystopian corporate state which would provide the confederacy's main source of research and technology, making an increasingly absurd profit in the process with little regard for working conditions.
The Umbra Empirium suffered a fate eerily similar to that of savara, it's Nobility driving the people into a two pronged revolt, though it reached that stage significantly slower and later than Savara could have ever hoped to.
Lastly, the Umbra Regium remained largely unchanged, it's economy kept up through careful investments and in more recent times, shareholding as it's small populace mastered the art of intelectual property ownership, conquering territory in paper and ideas as opposed to field and battles.
